Episode Summary
Meet the last of the Clitteraw tribe (they own the land the Double D is on) and find out what dangers they bring to the guests and owners of the Double D.
Details about the Episode
Previously on Cowgirl Up:
“Fuck fun, we’re here to win, this is war. I want to win, I need to win.”
“Indians!”
Roll credits
Ranch activities were brought to a halt by the two surviving members of the Clitteraw tribe, Morning Wind and her Daughter Eager Beaver.
The glamorous sepia screen (representing either a dream or a flash to the old west) shows two Native Americans, wearing war paint, with weapons sitting on horses.
The Clitteraw drive up to the ranch in a gulf cart. Double D staff and cowgirls draw their guns. Lu confronts the tribe. Reminding Morning Wind and Eager Beaver that they have a restraining order against them. However, Morning Wind assures her that they come in peace. She offers them brownies as an olive branch.
WARNING DESSERT VIOLENCE IN THE DESERT – hide your eyes if easily offended
Cricket throws the “brownie shit” on the ground, still angry. Lu and Cricket don’t buy it because they know what the Clitteraw Chief really wants is to kill their business and get off “their” land.
Meridith tries to resolve the legal dispute by offering her services as an attorney and takes a bite of the brownie that was thrown on the ground (I wonder if that was a stunt double brownie or the real dirty, gritty brownie). Meridith manages to swallow the bite, mentioning a hint of something, “maybe sage”.
Morning Wind clearly has no desire to resolve the matter. She begins insisting that Eager Beaver translate her messages as she spouts them in their native Clitteraw language. The messages are also laced with homophobic insults that Eager Beaver leaves out. (probably because she is also a lesbian.) Morning Wind wants the “dykes” off the land so she can build a casino.
A war of words breaks out between the two sides (such love in the air, it fills my heart to see people enthusiastically conversing about ethnic and gender roles). Eager Beaver then apologizes offering “medicine bags” which contain necklaces. This turns out to be a diversion so she can take something from each of the girls to use for a ritual later on. Eager Beaver is especially interested in Jo. This is evident by the passionate kiss she gives Jo after placing the necklace around her neck.
Cut to Morning Wind in the golf cart after having witnessed the kiss. She appears both angry and hurt as she realizes that due to her daughter’s preference for girls the Clitteraw bloodline won’t be carried on. At this time, the others find out that Morning Wind can speak English.
There is a “Sacred Native Voodoo Ceremony” performed at the Indian Trailer Camp by the Clitteraw. The ceremony included candles, box wine, “traditional” native dancing and tribal chants, along with dolls representing each girl.
Abby and Dee
At “The Cocktail Before the Storm” AKA when the cowgirls met for a little getting to know each other time, Abby (Marnie Alton) serenades Dee with a song (which Marnie actually wrote and preformed.) Dee loved it. It seems like there might be something between the two of them.
Sunny Trails
Meredith asks Sunny how she ended up at the Double D. Sunny told her that Cricket took her in after she got out of the woman’s correctional facility.
Cricket, Jo and Babe
Cricket hands out Cowgirl Koolaid (puts hair on your chest), Everclear and lemonade (OK We need a Cowgirl Up Drinking game, head to the forum and let’s create a fun time). Then mentions how Babe is one of the ranch’s best customers, wishes her good luck in beating OK Red’s record of Four time All-Around Best Cowgirl. We find out Babe is a mounted police officer in New Orleans
Meredith and Dakota
This episode adds to the Girls Gone Wild West: Dakota & Meredith mini-webisode which shows Meredith in pursuit of the younger Dakota. The encounter starts off by Meredith asking if Dakota is her real name or if she’s using an alias. Dakota asks if that really matters since the Double D’s all about making fantasies come true. Lu over hears Dakota’s comment and lets the two girls know she likes it. “I love that…I feel like we’re the Fantasy Island of lesbian cowgirls.”
Dakota then adds “And straight cowgirls.” Meredeth is surprised at this revelation. “You’re straight?” Dakota asks if she’s disappointed, but she clearly is. She says it’s too early to tell if she has a reason to be disappointed or not. Dakota says ” Whoa cowgirl.” She maybe a bit freaked out, but Meredith wasn’t done adding “I’m so gonna get you drunk.”
They all gather round as Lu once more apologizes for the Clitteraw. We find out Lu is a registered nurse and ordained minister in the Church of the Alternative Spirit (something about the desert air inspires commitment ceremonies).
Cut to Morning Wind and Eager Beaver who have completed the ceremony so they all have horrible dreams, suffer physical pain and humiliation and oh, yes, one will become Eager Beaver’s love slave.
Later, Jo and Eager Beaver meet again. Jo was smoking when she spotted Eager Beaver who was apparently spying on the Double D. When confronted by Jo, Eager Beaver claimed that she couldn’t help it. She was drawn there by her native land, and by Jo.
They exchange a few words and then passionately embrace and kiss and embrace some more and some more kissage and…. Then they break (ok Cowgirl Up Writers, you just love to tease a gal and leave her frustrated, don’tcha), Eager Beaver leaves and the screen goes all wiggly to…
It is dark, there is a fire ring, someone is dancing around to the beating drums and chanting. It is Jo. She is watched over by the great Chihuahua that wears wolf skin She is joined by Eager Beaver, both now dancing around the fire. Suddenly the music shifts, picks up an electronic disco beat, the women began to dance in a modern groove. It is a bump and grind, whooooo!!!!
And Jo shakes out of her “daydream/wet dream”.
The full moon fills the night sky, a coyote howls. Jo, Dee and Meridith are walking back to the bunkhouse, trying to talk strategy. They run into Babe, Dakota and Abby who are also out walking. They exchange bold words, Jo ending with “Hell Is Coming With Us!”
Outrageous Quotes
“We bring peace offering…brownies…There is no better way to say Lez be friends.” – Morning Wind.
Before Eager Beaver kisses Jo “There is something about you that makes me think you are one of us.” After “I was right…you speak our native tongue.”
Sunny about Lu and Cricket “They’re like the parents I never killed.”
“Cowgirl Kool-aid…Everclear and Lemonade…It’ll put hair on your chest…wanna see mine?” Cricket to Babe and Jo.
